Obituary

The Hong Kong Institute of Law and Translation (HKILT) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our Honorary Chairlady, Dr. Emily Wai Yee Poon, who passed away on 14 April 2026. Dr. Poon made significant contributions to legal translation and the professional development of the field.

According to the family’s notice, the funeral arrangements are as follows:

Viewing: 6 May 2026 (Wednesday), Po Fook Memorial Hall (Tai Wai), 4th Floor, Miu Wai Hall.

Buddhist rites: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.

Family members assemble at 3:00 PM.

Guests and friends may pay respects after 5:00 PM.

Final rites and cremation: 7 May 2026 (Thursday), Funeral Hall—final rites at 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM, followed by departure to Wo Hop Shek Crematorium for cremation.

Guests are requested to arrive before 9:00 AM on the day.

Transport note: Po Fook Memorial Hall provides a free shuttle service from Tai Wai MTR Station (Exit F or G). The pickup point is opposite Sun Keung Kee Roast Goose Seafood Restaurant.
